Sheer garments seem to be taking the Fashion realm by storm. Finding their way from the catwalk straight into fashion blogs. I'm partial to the trend due to its effortless beauty. It's a simple, and subtle, way to add some understated glamour. This dress, with its scalloped hem and tasseled belt shouts Gucci Spring 2011. Brights don't seem to be going into hiding anytime soon either, and I'm happy about that. I actually wore this little red number to a meeting yesterday. I followed the rendezvous with a ritual browsing session of international Vogue and Elle at the bookstore and a strawberry crepe at the local Pâtisserie.

What do you think about today's outfit?

Gucci Gardens

I find the Military trend that has of late been circulating its way through Fashion editorials, irresistible. I've seen it done spanning anywhere from grunge to adorable, effortless to high fashion. I wanted to incorporate that idea into my look. Add a hint of florals, c’est fini!

What I would fancy wearing to Paris Fashion Week, if the weather permitted.

Key influences: Military fatigues, gardens, zippers, neutrals and vivid red.

The combination of the corset fitted dress and wrap top transported me back as early as the 16th Century, when women wore corsets regularly with every outfit.

"Let's just pretend..that we go all the way back .." - Illinois

    • My favorite fruit of the moment is cantaloupe.
    • This weekend I hope to achieve one of the secrets I keep talking about....
    • I watched Devil Wears Prada again over the weekend and I'm one of those girls who would kill to have Andy Sachs's job!! I love Meryl Streep's character, Miranada, as well. In many ways she reminds me of my Grandmother who is always up on the latest trends and shopping hot spots. If she could re-do her career choices, I have no doubt in my mind I would have seen her as an Editrix for Vogue or its equal counterparts..... Emily Blunt is perfect in this as well (Emily) from her glorious red hair down to her wardrobe!
    • I'm on such a Weeds high! I need to fuel my mind with at least one or two episodes per night. I just started Season 3. Last night was "Brick Dance" ..... watch Nancy Botwin go at it here.... hahah! There was something so empowering about seeing her break out of her 'shell' and do this, right?
    • A new header... because Isabeli Fontana is sooo über crush worthy, no? Besides, I love her cocker spaniel hairdo in that picture and the chains on her shoes and the grey skinny jeans. Thanks to knight cat and the fashionspot for the image.
Military Blazer: eBay. Vintage belt: Gucci. Tights: Target. Suede Booties: Minnetonka.
And thanks to ModePass Flair magazine for featuring me in my Sequins!!

...a few Marvelous cravings!

From patent to studs to even suede fringe, my heart yearns for it all in black as night. I love the chic advantage one can achieve by simply dressing in black, head to toe. As effortless as painting your nails in the vamp shade to even dressing up your feet with dark patent, black is here to stay; day or night. Above is a Polyvore set of some of my current desires in this particular hue. Now if only I could have each and every single one of them..
