Your Love's a Drug

Vodka & Caviar by OPI and Bleach Black rings.

The two-tier vanilla cake I made for Mother's day. Strawberry jam, whipped cream, red sugar sprinkles and fresh strawberries topped it off.

It disappeared in less than a day.

My LG Rumor Touch is so perfect for texting on while waiting at a Cafe.

I like to decorate my fingers with Noir rings.

Pierre Hardy x Gap Spring wedges are my new staple.

AA salt and pepper hoody. Rebecca Minkoff Morning After clutch. True Religion Johnnys.

These Jeffrey Campbell Snick wedges are love.

They very much remind me of Celine Spring'10.

Check out Fashion Chalet in Interview here and here. Thanks, girls!

    Enjoy your weekend!! :)

When it's all over we can barely discuss

    Lately in love with
    :
Anna Selezneva at Giles SS 2010. Olivia Palermo on The City and her wardrobe in general. Sky high platform wedges in the likes of Christian Louboutin and Dolce and Gabbana. Perfectly lined eyes. Denim shorts with tights. Messy MK Olsen hair, in other words beautifully disheveled. Snejana Onopka at Valentino SS 2010. Lacy black lingerie as Natalia Vodianova seductively shares above. Alexa Chung back On. Rachel Bilson back in the paparazzi circuit. Denim shirts making a comeback; spotting Dree Hemingway in the same Topshop one I own, exhilarating. Britney Spears singing. Positive quotes about life written in Italian. This is It: Michael Jackson.

    Can't stop lusting over
: Classic Chanel chain bags. Knee socks. Pearls and glittering stones for necklaces. Red lipstick. Natasha Poly in the perfectly worn in leather jacket look. Miu Miu SS 2010; seeing braids everywhere, something I wear myself practically everyday. Blazers. Socks with sandals. Platforms. Alexander McQueen's demonic collection-- alien invasion or just really innovative thinking? Purple eye shadow. Flashes of red on dresses, especially when jewel encrusted. Flapper influences. Doll soft complexions à la Siri Tollerød.

New York Fashion Week

    Top four contenders. (So far...)

Charlotte Ronson played it safe with clean lines and neutral colors but surprised me with mixing in more black than Spring collections usually have. It's almost Tomboy meets Cruise chic, could it be she borrowed ideas from sister, Samantha? Overall, well done.

Alexander Wang hit this one out of the ballpark, literally. His 2010 collection evokes an old world Baseball (and as someone pointed out, football) feel; equal parts comfort and couture. The messy side braided hairdo is the perfect final addition to the look. The 'do melded regular sidewalk fashion and brought it to the runways!

Hervé Léger kept things simple with the beloved body con fitting dresses. The lovely, swirling blue sky prints made me swoon as did the chunky, studded, clunky, clogs. The only thing missing? Maybe an oversize glossy clutch.

Erin Wasson x RVCA reminds me of Rumi and KnightCat. This collection, in particular, has a lot of street cred. High brow designs mixed in with surfer, skater, casual accents. It's easy to wake up with big 80's hair, throw on an oversize and holey RVCA top, pull on a thigh grazing mini, and jam your feet through some beat up Docs. The whipped cream? Smokey, smokey eyes!

Others worth keeping an eye on: Rag & Bone, Vena Cava, Preen, Ruffian, Vivienne Tam, Boy by Band of Outsiders, Alexander McQueen, Cynthia Steffe, Diane von Furstenberg, Erin Fetherston .... Check back.

French Dressing

With all of the amazing designers out there, from Yves Saint Laurent to Karl Lagerfeld, why is it that a woman feels most sexy in men's clothing? From boyfriend jeans to menswear trousers and jackets, even the occasional pair of sweatpants. I find that I feel most confident in something oversize and comfortable. The French nailed it when they said, through what they wear, that French Dressing is simply nothing more than subtle elegance paralleling comfort. That's not to say I don't admire a glorious gown or a great towering pair of heels, I do. I just like to wear something a little different, when I'm at home; lounging the day away...

Hopefully, this cohesive collage I made below, will help introduce you to some more of my favorite things at this moment..... Swirling clouds in the sky, beautiful Cherry Blossom trees, Alexander McQueen and his skeletal decorated ankle booties (these bad boys are headed my way soon) WhoWhatWearDaily- the book, Isabel Marant Spring into Summer sky blue mini frocks, Ali Stephens in Numero editorial for October 2009: see the collage/desktop I made here. Anja Rubik and Lace; harmonious. 80's rock music and lately Elton John's Bennie and the Jets has been on repeat. Covering up for Fall, in: black, black, and more black; lots of layers, cannot wait. And, pondering what to be this Halloween.....

    A personal Thank You. :)

Andy Warhol had his muses too...

    Subconscious, but also conscious, Inspiration.

Since I have lately taken to sharing my outfits with you more frequently, I only found it fitting to also share some of the inspiration behind my thinking when it comes to picking these certain ensembles. Welcome to my world, behind the scenes, so to speak.

    • The coffee table book, Influence, penned by Mark Kate and Ashley Olsen, is a widespread collection of interviews featuring iconic legends in the Fashion realm. These are some noteworthy Q and A sessions with the likes of Mary Kate and Ashley's own personal private muses.

    • A teeny, tiny, stuffed, black French poodle. A past Holiday present I have yet been able to part with. She seems so very French to me and her given name is Orange Marmalade.

    • The beautiful red sequined hair clip in the shape of a bow, so fitting for the little part of Dorothy in us all. "There is no place like home, there is no place like home, there is no place like.."

Sex and The City, the movie. Yes, I felt the series was better on television, only because it delved deeper into the individual characters' lives, but finally getting to see Big and Carrie and their marvelous romance on the big screen? Kind of a blockbuster moment too. Not to mention the shoes, shoes, shoes and more shoes. Was I the only one enamored by Carrie Bradshaw's wardrobe yet again!? I think not!

Heart shaped sunglasses in a light flirty pink? Check. Because the girly girl in me said so. Thank you, Suzanne. ;)

Nylon magazine. It's as if all of my favorite editorial and photo blogs got married and had this beautiful little baby! Doesn't hurt that many of my favorites have graced their hallowed halls and donned their best to be captured for the cover; Nicole Richie, Sienna Miller, Leighton Meester, 90210's entire female cast, Ashley and Mary Kate Olsen, and Zooey Deschanel, just to name a few.

The Tudors. Season 1; because that's all I've seen so far (one episode left to go before I can move onto Season 2) and because of Jonathan Rhys Meyers and Henry Cavill.. that's all!

A Year in Fashion by Pascal Morche, which I had to purchase when I heard my good friend Lissa was getting it. Hello, a book so thick you can't carry it with only one arm, and totally loaded with fashion? And Audrey Hepburn is on the cover? YES, YES, YES!!!!

    • My trusty Composition notebook, filled with doodles, recipes, notes, ideas, quotes, song lyrics, wish lists and anything else worth jotting down. I carry "her" (yes, her) with me everywhere. I call her Jules.

    • The most beautiful color in the world to me, is purple. So it is only natural to state how much I adore my decadent lilac ring from Ice.com.

    • The tiny periwinkle twinkle between Influence and my Composition notebook belongs to a ring my Mother surprised me with some odd three years ago. It was exactly the bauble I needed to finish off my look for my Cousin's wedding. I treasure it for the many memories that come with it, every time I wear it.

Framed Audrey Hepburn photograph. Taken from an Audrey Hepburn picture fan book, I had to preserve her in frame. This is my favorite still from Breakfast at Tiffanys. The hairstyle, Givenchy dress, pearls, sunglasses, croissant, gloves, Tiffanys!

The Countdown

Collaging; it's been a while, Oui? OK, so here you go. I tried my very best to compile my latest obsessions du jour into muse board collage format for you guys. Alexa Chung is mighty high on the list; I find her adorable, just oodles and oodles of cuteness. She totally reminds me of Ramona Quimby from the Beverly Clearly book series; all legs and cute wit. Devon Aoki started my hot as flames model crush in The Fast and The Furious with her hot pink ultra cool car race scenes; this editorial by Camilla Akrans is high in my list of faves. Hot pink is also top knotch with me lately. And Hanky Panky's sexy little bright under things had me at hello. Other A-listers? Isabel Lucas, coincidentally pretty in pink; Carmen Kass in cool boots at the beach; red bags; Acne and their platformed, mirrored and extremely ingenious wedges; frilly bows; Hana Soukupova in a Carrie Bradshaw tutu; Natalia Vodianova channeling Alice in Wonderland; Ali Stephens; Mink Pink; long hair; Alexander Wang, and lastly, pretty things.

Sartorial Sunday

A rainy Sunday calls for a collage, no? Thought I'd throw a little of my current favorites into the mix. And an all time classic hit by Simple Minds for the tune. (This one's for you, Max!)

Mary-Kate Olsen for her hair, glitzy top and ripped tights. A model on break backstage in ballet flats. Pixie Market perfection, I love the model's layered hair and cut-out leggings paired with ankle boots. Natasha Poly in red lipstick; enough said!

As the rest of this week is supposed to rain (on and off- boo hoo!) I will at least have lots of new TV to watch, thanks to all of your great recommendations, guys!! :)

Saturday Night Favorites! "a Collage"

OK, so after having a very fulfilling dinner at Carrabba's Italian grill, I highly recommend the Chicken Bryan and the Italian Chicken pizza (we stopped for Apple pie and vanilla ice cream at this quaint little 50's inspired diner afterward!) and thus being too full to fall asleep just yet.. I came on the computer and opened up Photoshop, and this little collage is what came out of that.... hope you like it.. haha.

To sum it all up my current favorites include: Rosie Huntington-Whiteley donning a Queen-like crown, Lauren Conrad in a high waist navy blue skirt, long hair, RVCA model; Michelle Carvalho, Heidi braids, Mary-Kate ' MK ' Olsen, Ruffian, and Ruslana Korshunova. . .

Sources: the fashion spot, google images, olsen-files, inky lips, little plastic horses, knightcat...

"The Friday 5"

Why not kick off the start to the weekend with a list of currents? You all seemed to like it the last time I did it. And I have fun making them. So... my current 5 are as follows:
    1. I wish that Unicorns were real.
    2. I used to collect stickers as a kid. I had the collector's books where you could organize all of them inside. I would even have parties to trade with my friends. It was incredibly fun. To this day, I still have a fondness for Lisa Frank stickers.
    3. Another secret single behavior of mine (that helps keep me sane after a long day or hectic week) is eating a huuuuge homemade salad for lunch, while watching either Gossip girl or 90210 on iTunes.
    4. I collect My Little Pony stuff. I love my little girls.
    5. I've always wanted to decorate my room in an earthy, natural yet moody tone, a la Erin Wasson. Maybe 2009 will be a great year for doing just that!

A Year in Review

I thought it fit today to blog about some of my current favorites for 2009 as well as some favorites that haunted me through 2008 and still today. I am anxiously anticipating the arrival of my body con double-U neck minidress from American Apparel, in black with long sleeves. The perfect classic; alone or layered. Cat has convinced me to hit the mall today for some studded rings (as has MK Olsen) and Melissa talked me into making a stop at the bookstore for the perfect Fashion book. I'm craving multichain necklaces as well. I cannot wait to incorporate all of these trends and new ideas into my blog this year. I do have some secrets up my sleeve, all neatly written out in shopping list format, of course. I hope to score some of them today. If not, there's always tomorrow.

    XO

    UPDATE:
    I ended up getting:
    • a slew of rings
    • a new scarf
    • a bracelet
    • and some very Carrie Bradshaw shoes!! xx
    • I had to order the book online, along with another ring and necklace. :]
