I found a great new spot for photos over the weekend. This great big park that has a lake, train rides for kids and adults alike, plus popcorn by the mile. It felt like Disney World to me, so I donned my Mouse Ears for a bit. The best part? Nobody looked at me like I was off my rocker.. haha. Wearing the hat here just felt.. right... The Happiest Place on Earth.. Disney World! Right? When I used to live in Florida, I would visit this magical land at least once a year, if not twice, or more. I remember always wanting a pair of Mickey Mouse ears with my name on the back. Yet, somehow always seemed to forget to buy them. Well, this Christmas my friend Caroline went down to Florida for a week. Now, I know we were destined to meet and fast become friends! She brought me back this pair of personalized mouse ears. Feeling in much better spirits this morning. My Mother-in-Law seems to be doing better. We're still keeping an eye on her though, and praying. Thanks for all of your positive thoughts and notes!

Alex and I only just received news last night about his Mother being admitted to the Hospital from what looks to be a very severe stroke. :( We haven't slept. We're both very scared, as this came so suddenly. Doctors say she is better today but is still in need of additional surgery. Please help us in keeping Aura in your thoughts and prayers today.

life is a strange journey...
full of self discovery...an ongoing learning process...

I would take the example of my grandparents cos its inspire this vision of life
..
how the eyes reflect the vision of life and how the heart or mind interpret life is such a beautiful story...

when I was in my teens, whenever I would meet my grandparents they would talk about the past
or the morals or values they used to have...
I would then think that they didn't understand the new generation ...

today these conversations have taken a golden dimension...
with a new eye vision and mindset, I now perceive this life cycle...

when I was a teen, my main aim was to finish school then work then study...
most people aim is to find a good job with a good salary package...

but for my grandparents, they have reached such a stage when all those materials life aims are minimalist...

for them, their day-to-day is
life itself...
they now talk about the remaining life that they have to live... they talk so freely about their death...

whenever I would hear them talk about their past, I now cherish these golden experiences...
why those golden moments would soon be rare......where I have learn the essence of life from them...

Archie comics, Jimmy Fallon and Platform lace-up boots..

One of my favorite weekend pastimes (other than taking photos for the blog!) is haunting my local bookstore. Borders was always my first choice. Until they all closed. So many memories... Anyway, Barnes & Noble now plays a role in my meeting a number of blog readers. I've actually become great friends with one local reader in particular, Caroline, when she reached out to meet up in person. Now, the bookstore is our "hang out" spot for long winded fashion conversations, towering cups of coffee and some good reads. ;)

Also, I have to ask... is anyone else on Shelfari? It's this amazing site that easily compiles your Reading wish list. You can sort your virtual "bookshelf" by what you're reading, have read, and want to read. What am I reading at the moment? Sarah's Key by Tatiana de Rosnay and I recently skimmed through Rob Lowe's Stories I Only Tell My Friends.. You can check out my Shelfari profile here.

I will always remember the day how I decided to start blogging…on an impulse…
not knowing what kind of blog I will have…what it will be the title or subtitle…

all decided on an itch…just for knowing how it feels to have a blog…and be a blogger…
today am quite proud of my small world I have crafted there…
my blog has become my alter world …like Gaia has become my alter ego…

people have always reproached me of being too introvert…making me feel
dull somehow doubting myself…
but blogging has helped me so much…a place where I have found a sort of an
oasis or Eldorado…where I can feel I can be myself… talk freely about the world I picture through my eyes….

being someone who prefer the unspoken to the spoken…my blog has become the place where each word reflect part of my unspoken thoughts …
each drawing or picture complementing my unspoken feelings…

thanks to blogging… despite being physically in one place… I travel virtually in different places around the planet…landing in all kinds of fabulous worlds…

I also seize this opportunity to thank all my readers, commenters and visitors...
I hope my blogging journey will be always flourishing as today….

where gentleness & helpfulness are taken for granted

where the "Seven Capital sins" (Wrath, greed, sloth, pride, lust, envy, and gluttony) are the norms

So, after 10 days my main findings reside in 3 words that have become my mantra...

I always think that life should have come with a manual or with a search engine ...

these days am in an impasse... taking a decision is never easy...

I don’t want to take a hasty decision … like I did in the past & live in regret

I’m right now stuck in the middle of my life journey… not knowing which way to choose...

cant deny am afraid...apprehensive...

life is never easy...

the choice that I will take will reflect on my future... am still thinking on the pros & cons...trying to make out where I shall be in the future...

my big dilemma is whether to quit my job or not...

the job I had started to hate so much...which has become my own purgatory...

I hate the hypocrisy ....
the egoisms...
the unfairness...
the exploitation...
the coldness
& the inhumanity...

I no more want to
be tormented in my sleep with work...
where at every turn there is only reproaches..
where opening your mail inbox you are afraid there is going to be some very bad news...

today I no more have the strength to face all of these...
all my patience has faded away...

and I don't know what to do

if ever you had read about my post where i wanted to quit my job...
well you will never know what has happened since then...

surprise surprise...
the HR asked me if I wanted interested in joining another dept...
and of course I said YES....
but things aren’t that easy...
here comes the unwanted barriers on my path...

My actual head isn’t that willing to release me...
and that just enrage me that he can stoop so low...
the dept am joining will not be easy but somehow am very happy and relieved that i have found the escape door from this hellish department...

what I learn from this :

never to take a decision in haste....
time itself will provide you with the solution...
and always to have faith

Learn so many bad news about my dear ones…especially when you witness the downfall of people you thought you knew…

Wasn't it just yesterday that I was sitting here and reviewing the previous year in a nutshell? Seriously, I feel as though I blinked last New Year's Eve and opened my eyes and it was January 1, 2012. Last year went by in a flash, yet I feel as though I've evolved a lot. I'm actually pretty shy in person. Or so it would appear, to those who don't know me very well. Once I warm up to you, I start talking a mile and minute and grinning from ear-to-ear. Make me laugh, and all of my shyness melts around me in a puddle. Fashion is my one way of feeling in control. When I'm happy with what I'm wearing, I just feel better about myself. It's like an energy boost or something. I dress for comfort and for myself. In a way, blogging has helped me to grow into a stronger, more confident, person.

I'm so grateful for the opportunities that blogging has brought my way this past year...from writing my own column in the local Style magazine to flying in to New York for parties and shows on a whim. I still take these experiences in stride and feel as though I'm living in a dream every time. I nearly pinch myself when attending New York Fashion Week each season. I don't think I've changed personality-wise, but have grown in my stylistic choices and improved in my shopping habits. I hope this year is even more exciting, filled with plenty of traveling and new job opportunities.

And guess what? I plan to take all of you on the ride with me. I really wish I could stick my hand out of this computer screen and shake yours. I am so motivated to work on my blog BECAUSE. OF. YOU! So, once again, thank you. I love you. And, Happy New Year!!

Why are Levi's jeans so much more fun to wear as cut offs? I happen to know for a fact that Erin Wasson agrees. She grew up collecting old Levis only to transform them into cut offs. And, even though cut offs are more of a Summer staple, I couldn't resist pairing them with a colorful Christmas sweater and sheer tights.

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and Holiday weekend. How did you spend yours? Mine was filled with family, food and festivities. I love to get all dressed up during the Holidays and wear my favorite sweaters and dresses. Sometimes, though, it's fun to dress down. Go casual and be comfortable. These particular photos were taken a bit before Christmas. We went to the Park to celebrate my younger brother's birthday with a barbecue. I enjoy walking in the woods and feeling infinitesimally small among the trees.

This Gorilla T Shirt has seen many a wearing. It definitely reminds me of Christopher Kane.

" LAST CHRISTMAS " We had Lots of Snow!

I can hardly believe that just last year it snowed on Christmas. It started at night and we woke up to a Winter Wonderland on the 26th. It doesn't seem to be in the forecast for this year, though. :(

It's crazy how a whole year has already flown by. It literally went by in a wink. So much has happened in the past 365 days. I want to thank all of you for reading and supporting me and my blog. I look forward to another Year with you! :) Sharing my adventures and Fashion finds. I also look forward to receiving all of your feedback (my favorite part!)

Last night we celebrated Christmas Eve, or "Noche Buena" to us, with lots of food and presents at Midnight. Today we woke up to a casserole, gifts from 'Santa' and biscuits with homemade jam. What are some of your Christmas/Holiday traditions??

Even though my Stylemint T Shirt reads I'm Almost Not Crazy, it reminds me of the movie, Almost Famous. Can you tell how excited I was to parade around town in this white faux fur coat? I've been vying for a white fur coat since last Winter. Abominable snowman references or not, I love this fuzzy fur coat. I can see myself already getting plenty of wear out of it. As for the T Shirt, I've always had a thing for heather gray pieces. A perfect staple for layering or wearing alone. Lastly, my 3 favorite go to items (riding pants, ankle boots and Alexander Wang bag) complete this ensemble.

Christmas Cookies and Cocoa

To be perfectly honest, I'm so not a dessert person. I'm known for my salty tooth. If I do choose to indulge in some sugary snacks, I'm more than likely to chase it with something salty. However, when the Holiday Season begins I can't ignore the tasty treats in the bakery windows. I'm a sucker for pretty desserts too. If it's cute, I just want to take a bite out of it.. ;)

This year, my goal is to bake my Christmas cookies from scratch.

This Coat is vintage (my Mom's!) from the eighties. I love its nubby structure and interlaced fabrics. The silhouette alone attracted my attention and the sweater sleeves are great. I feel like I could fit in on set any eighties movie whilst wearing it. Adventures in Babysitting for instance, or my other personal favorite, Ferris Bueller's Day Off!

The addition of a charcoal gray T Shirt from Stylemint and form-fitting leggings were all I needed to complete my look. The punch of color via my flourescent Cambridge satchel and chunky, Topshop ankle boots (which I can't seem to get enough of!) were the final touches.

In March 2010, Lagerfeld shocked, surprised and inspired his Fashion Week attendees yet again. For his Fall 2010 Show, Polar Bears, Ice Caps and Couture all came into play. That collection in particular inspired my outfit today. This khaki green "Mulholland" T Shirt from StyleMint was my first choice to wear. Although I'm not literally dressed head to toe like a Polar Bear, this fuzzy faux fur sure does keep me warm. And the color of my T Shirt, in particular, sings Fall. I love that. You probably can't tell from these photos, but I was singing "All I Want for Christmas is You" in my head as I walked and skipped about "on set." I can't believe it's almost here, so near, yet so far. The saddest part is saying goodbye and having to count down 365 days for the next Christmas morning...

On a Shopping trip with my friend, Caroline, we popped into H&M to find some Winter wear. That's when I first spotted this faux fur vest in blue. "So Isabel Marant!" I exclaimed, and she agreed. Upon closer inspection, the vest made me think of something Olivia Palermo would purchase and wear to death. I loved it and knew I had to buy it too. And check out these jeans, at first glance they create a leather-like finish, due to a special coating which creates the waxy shine.

I fooled around during the shoot wearing the faux fur vest both belted and then open. Which way do you think it looks best?

When I first received this Navy blue T Shirt, I could not stop fawning over the softness of the fabric. Initially, I chose the piece for it's rich, navy hue. I knew I wanted to mix black in with the navy, a delightful color combination in my opinion. Mary Kate and Ashley know how to wear staples and take them to the next level. I was inspired to try something new and came up with a DIY Project. I turned a romper into shorts and paired it with my new T Shirt, sparkly blazer and velvet loafers.

One of my vices is buying Nail Polish. I remember starting my collection around 11 years old. It's only grown exponentially since then. Like barracudas, I too am attracted to shiny, reflective things. My collection integrates pastels, neons and neutrals. If I pass by a Nail Polish display, I can't help browsing and leaving with a bottle or two. My favorite brands? O.P.I. (super chip resistant!) Chanel (for the whimsical color wheel.) Essie (for splashes of punchy color.) I also enjoy wearing Deborah Lippmann (for a Party on your fingernails!) I have yet to try Nars or Dior. Any reviews you care to share?

I was so excited when this Zara coat arrived at my doorstep. What's not to love about leather sleeves? This black Winter coat keeps me perfectly warm, with it's classic cut and style. The leather sleeves simply add a new spin to my look. My favorite part of the day is when I'm all finished with work and can grab a cup of coffee and then browse the latest Fashion magazines and bookshelves of bestsellers. While wearing nearly all black, I splashed on some fluorescent pink with wet look skinny jeans. The converse hi-tops I shared with you in yesterday's post were an unexpected mix I had in mind. I normally would have worn my black converse, but wanted to juxtapose the all black ensemble just a bit..

I've always found sneakers to be ugly and not part of a Fashionable outfit. Excluding Converse, of course. The design is timeless, so much so, that this basketball sneaker worn as early as 1908 is still as hip and functional today. We're talking about a Century later. They're beyond comfortable and add some edge to skinny jeans. They're perfect for a rainy day or for sightseeing around New York City. I used to worry I'd look short in sneakers but since I'm 5'7" it's not so bad. Unless, I'm standing next to a Supermodel, of course. ;)

When I look at Ray-Ban sunglasses, particularly the Wayfarer style, I think about Vampires. I find the design, shape and dark color perfect for a budding Vampire. Don't you?

What is it about Vampires I find so alluring? Maybe it's the fact that most Vampires portrayed in film or television are ridiculously good looking? That might be it. There's also an interest with their dark, secret world. Mythical and magical. Or maybe Edward Cullen and the Salvatore brothers have simply engulfed us with their big, dreamy eyes and pompadour hairstyles? It's funny how at first my Mom thought the enthrallment of Vampires was weird. Though now, having recently seen all 3 installments of Twilight, wants to see the newest film on the big screen asap! Even my hairstylist confided in her Mom tuning into The Vampire Diaries each week. I think Vampires are being rendered more and more as romantic beings instead of scary creatures..

What do I foresee as the next spell to take the World by storm? It's already begun... Fairy Tales! From Grimm to Once Upon a Time.. and now, the remake of Snow White. I'm so there!!

This phone couldn't come at a handier time, before Holiday travels begin. I have the best memory in the world. However, when it comes to directions, I am always getting lost. Siri and GPS apps will be perfect for that. I'm also a Weather nerd. It's good to have a heads up on the weather for blog shoots, so this is mighty helpful. Alex is very tech minded and one of his favorite things to do is research and shop for the next "it" phone. So, of course since that's the most boring kind of shopping in the World, I leave all things tech to him. I'm very happy with my new phone. Thank you, Alex! :)

Daily Makeup Routine

Covergirl, Maybelline, Elf, and Rimmel- My Daily "Go-To's"

I have been receiving quite a number of emails regarding my daily makeup regimen lately. In all honesty, it only takes me 10 minutes to "put my face on" so to speak. I start with a pressed powder foundation (Maybelline is my go-to!) and apply a few drops of water to my sponge to create a smooth application. Once dry, I pat on some blush with a big faced brush. I line my eyes with Rimmel eyeliner (I tend to smudge it around the corners when finished with a Q-Tip.) For a night out or a special event, I'll line my upper lids with a liquid liner cat eye Circa 1961 and mascara.

When it comes to Lipstick, truth be told, just a few years ago I never would have stepped outside in super bright lipstick. Why you ask? Because I shied away from the attention and it felt like a spotlight on my face. I would wonder, "Was I too made up? Did I look like a clown?" I wasn't comfortable with the added attention it might bring my way. Instead, I would only wear lightly tinted glosses or nude lipsticks.

Now? Well, now I certainly embrace the idea of colorful lipstick. I feel more confident in it. It makes me happy to catch a reflection of my colorful lips. I feel alive and confident. It reminds me (and also makes me question) why I was so afraid to break out of my shell before? In high school, I was so different from who I have become now. I am much more comfortable in my skin now then I was back then. I think that's a part of most every teenage girl's territory though, growing up and feeling awkward or shy? Now, I can't get my hands on enough richly hued makeup. It's a great way to experiment and have fun. Makeup is just as much of an accessory as the latest "it" handbag or stylish new shoes. And much more affordable too. I say dig in and play!

Sneak Peek " BLOG PROJECT "

How was your Thanksgiving yesterday? For those of you celebrating, hope it went well. I'm still stuffed. Today, I wanted to share a quick update with you on one of my Projects. A few months ago, I was approached by a local Style magazine to contribute my own column. Here I am hunting local boutiques for stylish pieces to wear in my third issue. I can't wait to share the looks I came up with ..soon. The next issue hits stands early 2012.

This sequin blazer from Armani Exchange is made up of primarily dark, glittering sequins. I wanted to add even more shine to the overall look by layering different colored sequins. The Holidays is a time of year when you can get away with more costumey pieces... other than, say, at Fashion Week. That's when I pounced on this little black dress. The entire skirt is adorned in gold, mirrored sequins and seemed to be the missing puzzle piece I needed. The sequined blazer and little black dress just seemed to marry well. As for the footwear? I nearly forgot about these suede platform wedges until I spotted them, way in the back of my wardrobe, smiling at me. Yearning to be worn again. The gold sequin clutch, the last dusting of shine. Going bare legged in this minidress is something I won't get to do much of once Christmas gets closer, tights will become a must with any short dress. Luckily, this mid-November weather is refreshing and not freezing ...not yet, anyway.

Finally, the debut of two new items I've been excited to wear. My red Rag & Bone cropped sweater and these chunky, Topshop ankle boots. To answer a few questions I received on Facebook and Twitter (they are tremendously comfortable) and fit much better than the Acne pistol boots. I tried those on in New York, unfortunately they pinched my toes. These boots from Topshop fit like a dream.

I'm infatuated with this motorcycle jacket with its amazing woven detail on the shoulders and sleeves. Easily reminiscent of the early nineties and modern day Balmain. I can imagine supermodel, Freja Beha all over this jacket.

By the way, I may be clearing out some shoes from my closet (size 8/8.5 US) let me know if you're interested? :)

These pants have this crazy paint-drip print, are just baggy enough and come with a cuffed hem. I was inspired to pair them with platform heels. The droopy pockets are perfect for jamming my hands into for warding off the cold winter chill. The fuzzy, muppet-like top is super off the shoulder and lots of fun. Arielle from Necessary Clothing picked out this adorable little outfit for me. (She really knows me and my style!) At the very last minute I added on the camel hued coat for warmth. When I glanced in the mirror, I couldn't help but think of Gywneth Paltrow's role in The Royal Tenenbaums as Margot. No, I've never actually seen this movie (I Know!) I do remember seeing photographs of her iconic cropped bob and beige fur though.

Isn't this cropped sweater from Rag & Bone a cheery Holiday red? I can't wait to wear it. My new Fashion coffee table book is already decorating my bookshelf. A fun read (and how could it not be?) with Sarah Jessica Parker and Audrey Hepburn both, on the cover. My two muses: both different, both stylish. A balance of my two favorite kinds of Fashion: edgy/unexpected and classic/sophistication.

This is undoubtedly my favorite time of year. Baking desserts, Holiday shopping, inventing Christmas Cocoa concoctions and savoring this wonderful feeling. I've already downloaded about 3 albums worth of Christmas music from iTunes too! ;)

The TV " Bad Boy " feat. Johnny Depp and Milo Ventimiglia

What is it about the "bad boy" that always makes us girls swoon? I recently got hooked on 1987 series, 21 Jump Street, starring none other than infamous bad boy, Johnny Depp as Tom Hanson. I never really thought twice about Depp, until seeing this show. Yeah, I always knew he was an incredible actor and a very cool guy. It must be the haircut, easy brown eyes or clean-shaven face that makes me melt. I couldn't quite place his voice or mannerisms until things finally clicked. Fast forward to 2001 and find Depp's doppelganger in Jess Mariano (Milo Ventimiglia) on Gimore Girls. Although, with more attitude and edge. I can't help but spot the many similarities running through these two.

It's a funny thing how style preferences change and evolve with each season. Last year, all I wanted was high heels and platforms. Now, I'm all about flats or chunky, low heels. I'm finally sharing the last of the photos from my NYFW stay in September. I really enjoyed my stay at The Empire Hotel. I think this was my favorite Hotel for Fashion Week so far. It was a stone's throw from Lincoln Center and a quick cab ride from Soho. I didn't miss any of the shows, and that makes for a punctually happy me. I'm a Virgo, so planning is essentially a part of my genetic makeup... chaos gives me stress. I was treated to roof top views for a special Victoria's Secret Spa session and even thought I saw Ed Westwick (Chuck Bass from Gossip girl) once. We stayed on the uppermost top floor, corner unit. Alex enjoyed watching the comings and goings for Fashion Week from our windows just as much as I did.

The top I am wearing from Stranded Label is super soft and was perfect for flying into the city. I highly recommend them.

Why is wearing neutral colors so fun? I feel polished in pretty, non-fussy pieces. Not to mention, I like the comfort factor of flats and legging-like skinny jeans. The best part about wearing neutrals is almost any accessory goes. So, I opted for peach pink lipstick and a striped hobo tote. This bag is the best. I can literally fit everything I need inside, and then some. Once completely full it pops open into a bucket shape, really cool. The perfect bag to stuff a couple of paperback books, my iPad, a change of clothes and even a snack or two.

It may only be a few days into November, however I can already feel the Holiday cheer in the air. Also, it doesn't hurt that Starbucks has already released their red coffee cups and Holiday flavors. My favorites? Gingerbread Latte and Pumpkin Spice. I spent yesterday shopping for some early Christmas presents with my friend Caroline (who also took these outfit photos!) She helped me narrow down some of my shopping selections. You see, I was shopping for my next trip. It looks like I might be in New York again. Very, very soon. I can't wait to share what I stocked up on from H&M. Very cute, very cozy pieces. You'll see soon enough, I'm sure.

Not feeling content enough with my lo-top pair of Converse, I had to play around with the hi-top too. Do you like them? I found them even more fun to pair with cuffed jeans. This entire look was inspired by the Sport of baseball me thinks. To this day, I still remember my obsession with baseball camp (my cousin went, I only visited once and had a blast!) the film A League of Their Own and owning Converse since the 6th grade. Baseball is a classic sport, why not let it inspire classic Fashion as well?

Perhaps I took inspiration from The Pierces or Dolce and Gabbana for my look today? Oh and by the way, I cut my hair again. Can you tell? I liked how long it was getting, so I only had about 2" trimmed off the ends and the face framing layering redone. Since the temperate dropped about 15 degrees since Halloween, tights were an essential ingredient for this leather mini outfit. I can't help feeling a bit like Rory Gilmore in my uniform-ready saddle shoes. I'm quite fond of the Fifties and its Fashions.

Scream on Halloween!

I'm not a Horror/Slasher movie fan whatsoever, to say the least. When I first saw this movie in Junior High/High School, I was hooked. I must have watched it 20 times. I rented the VHS tape from Blockbuster back then and literally would watch and rewind and watch it again. I memorized every inside joke.. "Liver alone!" and “Never, ever, ever under any circumstances say, "I'll be right back." Because you won't be back.”

I studied their every mannerism. I was in love with the cast. This film was not only well written but well cast. I felt as if I were one of them, part of "the gang.” Behind every corner, and chase, something new and thrilling would pop up. The attention to detail is done painstakingly well.

Even the soundtrack is a "character" in itself. I can't listen to "Red Right Hand" by Nick Cave + the Bad Seeds without thinking of this movie.

Skeet Ulrich was one of my first crushes, and to this day, still reminds me of a young Johnny Depp in this film. From the first minutes into the last few seconds, I was on the edge of my chair, heart pounding.. wanting more.

Going online in the U.S. is close enough for me. I decided to apply a layer of neon to these basic pieces. I have a feeling this blazer will come in handy as the leaves start to fall....

The Sachin + Babi Spring/Summer 2012 Collection was inspired by the disco era, studio 54 and 70's glam icons like Bianca Jagger, Jerry Hall and Faye Dunaway. Oozing with easy glamour to the hilt! Sachin + Babi are a husband & wife duo based in NYC. Sachin wanted the brand to be for his wife - he wants his wife to wear the stuff he designs. A lot of the production happens back in their homeland of India, hence the Indian influences from the beading to their long dresses.

As I sat down to write this post today, I realized that Christmas will soon be here. In less than 61 days. Christmas Eve is my favorite. Of course, I also can't wait for Thanksgiving. It's the coziest of Holidays. Just like this fuzzy faux fur leopard print coat. I'm so happy the Weather is finally letting me play with it again.

I grabbed a quick brunch in this today, after meeting up with a prospective new client. I work part/time writing for local magazines about Fashion, I also Style clients. Acting as a personal shopper, I help them select options for events, parties, and travel. It's a really fun job. I've been doing this since the day I started working at Barneys New York after College.
